Wolseley-Vickers “Wheel-Cum-Track” Car (1926) - rare Historical Photos

Equipped with both tracks and normal wheels, the vehicle could be driven like a traditional car or could lower the tracks to tackle more difficult terrain like a tank . The Wolseley-Vickers vehicle, introduced in 1926, was a hybrid car and tractor designed for the British Army. In reality, much of the vehicle was based on a normal Wolseley car. What made it special was its ability to switch between normal wheels and tracks depending on the surface it was moving on. New York, 1977: temporary (now lost) beach in World Trade Center area (Twin Towers). Vintage photos

There was a temporary beach created near the Twin Towers in New York City in the summer of 1977 . This artificial beach was set up in Battery Park City , an area on the west side of Lower Manhattan . The beach was part of a promotion by the City of New York and included sand, beach chairs, and umbrellas to create a seaside atmosphere in the urban environment. This unique urban beach was part of the efforts to revitalize Lower Manhattan and attract people to the area, especially during the summer months.
