The most famous depiction of the 1833 Leonids, actually produced in 1888 for the Adventist book Bible Readings for the Home Circle. The engraving is by Adolf Vollmy based upon an original painting by the Swiss artist Karl Jauslin, that is in turn based on a first-person account of the 1833 storm by a minister, Joseph Harvey Waggoner on his way from Florida to New Orleans. Similar event was also in 1866. Photos:
Equipped with both tracks and normal wheels, the vehicle could be driven like a traditional car or could lower the tracks to tackle more difficult terrain like a tank .  The Wolseley-Vickers vehicle, introduced in 1926, was a hybrid car and tractor designed for the British Army. In reality, much of the vehicle was based on a normal Wolseley car. What made it special was its ability to switch between normal wheels and tracks depending on the surface it was moving on.         (Vickers D3E1 Wheel-cum-Track Machine)  #history #technology #hybrid #vintagephotos #Wolseley-Vickers
